How to Link Marvel Rivals Accounts for Cross-Progression

By · Published · Official redeem method checked

Marvel Rivals cross-progression links several platform accounts to one primary character; it does not merge two existing characters into a combined save. NetEase currently supports Epic, Steam, Loading Bay, PlayStation, and Xbox accounts. If more than one linked account already has a character, you must choose which character becomes primary, while the others remain stored. That choice deserves care because platform unbinding has a 180-day cooldown and other characters have a 30-minute cooldown after a primary-character selection. Rank and leaderboard records also remain separate across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. This guide explains the binding path, primary-character decision, platform restrictions, cooldowns, and post-link checks.

Before you start

Before binding anything, identify the character you actually want to preserve as primary. Progress, collections, and paid content are stored on characters, and NetEase does not merge two characters. If your PlayStation account has the valuable collection while your PC account is a newer alternate character, linking them does not combine both inventories; you must choose a primary character.

Also verify the exact platform login being authorized. The official Q&A warns about PlayStation authorization behavior and states that, after a PSN account is bound, a different PSN account cannot replace it. With a 180-day platform cooldown after unbinding, a mistaken account choice can have a long consequence.

Step-by-step instructions

Open Settings → Other → Account → Account Binding, select a platform other than the one currently used to log in, and complete verification. Repeat only for accounts you intentionally want in the linked group. If more than one linked account already contains a character, review the characters and select the primary one rather than assuming the system will merge them.

After binding completes, test a second linked platform and confirm that it opens the intended primary character. Then review device-specific rank data and any external web bindings. Discord, Twitch Drops, and similar third-party bindings are not automatically updated by cross-progression, so they may need to be linked again manually.

What to expect

Logging in through a linked account should open the same primary character, carrying that character's progress, collections, and paid content across the supported linked logins. Other characters are stored rather than deleted, and can become primary later subject to the character-switch rules.

Do not expect one universal competitive rank. NetEase stores PC, PlayStation, and Xbox battle data, rank, and leaderboard positions separately. Cross-progression shares access to the character; it does not collapse device-specific competitive records into a single rank.

Important limits and conditions

Platform cooldown: after unbinding, the account and related platform enter a 180-day cooldown before the same platform can be rebound. Character cooldown: after choosing a primary character, other characters enter a 30-minute cooldown before they can be selected as primary. These are operational limits, not just warnings.

Platform-exclusive costumes remain limited to their designated platforms, and some bundle purchases can be affected by PlayStation or Xbox platform restrictions. Tournament and Faction actions also retain device requirements. Cross-progression should therefore be understood as shared character access, not removal of every platform boundary.

Troubleshooting

Wrong character after linking: open Account Binding and verify which character is primary before unlinking anything. Wrong account authorization: check the exact platform account that was verified, especially PSN. Missing third-party rewards or web linkage: review Discord, Twitch, and similar bindings separately because the official Q&A says they are not automatically updated.

Rank mismatch between devices is expected because rank records are platform-specific. A platform-exclusive costume disappearing on another platform can also be expected behavior. Reserve unlinking for a confirmed account mistake, because the 180-day cooldown makes it a poor first troubleshooting step.
