Gameplay overview
Combat uses squads of up to three Agents. Players rotate characters in real time, chain Basic and Special Attacks, dodge enemy strikes, trigger Perfect Assists, build Daze to Stun targets, and launch Chain Attacks during openings. Agent roles, attributes, factions, W-Engines, Drive Discs, Bangboo, and team synergies shape a build. Some teams focus on direct damage, while others revolve around Anomaly buildup, Stun windows, defensive play, or support buffs.
Story, setting, or main mode
Zenless Zone Zero is set after supernatural disasters called Hollows devastated much of civilization. New Eridu survives by extracting resources and technology from the Hollows while contending with Ethereals, corporations, gangs, public security forces, and other factions. The player controls Belle or Wise, siblings who operate under the Proxy identity Phaethon. Proxies guide Agents through Hollow environments, and the main story expands from New Eridu into new regions such as Roscaelifer in Version 3.0.
