The Trainer and Pokémon can move around the field while the player chooses when to use moves, making position, move range, attack timing, and startup speed part of each encounter. Outside battle, the player explores Lumiose City, catches wild Pokémon, trains a team, completes story missions, and takes part in the Z-A Battle Club. Mega Evolution is a central mechanic, with additional Mega-Evolved Pokémon and Mega Stones appearing through the base game and Mega Dimension content.
Battle style: Real-time movement with timed move commands. Home connectivity: Available after the April 2026 update.
Story, setting, or main mode
The entire adventure centers on Lumiose City in the Kalos region during an urban redevelopment plan intended to create a better home for both people and Pokémon. The player arrives in the city and becomes involved with characters and conflicts tied to its changing districts. Mega Dimension continues after the main story. Strange hyperspace distortions appear around Lumiose City, leading into additional areas and encounters that expand the game’s Mega Evolution focus.
The confirmed setting is Lumiose City, Kalos.
