DOOM: The Dark Ages is id Software’s released first-person shooter prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal. The base game launched May 15, 2025, and Bethesda now lists the Revelations campaign expansion and Update 4 as available following their July 7, 2026 release. The confirmed central lead is Doom Slayer.

Platforms and availability
PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC are supported. Bethesda lists Xbox PC, Steam, Battle.net, and PlayStation 5 among the current PC and console routes for the game and expansion.
Gameplay overview
The game is a first-person shooter built around the Doom Slayer, with a medieval-styled war against Hell. Combat combines firearms, melee systems, the Shield Saw, and other tools, while Revelations adds the Chain Spear.

Official descriptions position the game as the Slayer’s prequel story before DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal. Revelations adds a new campaign chapter set after the base-game story.

Download and availability
The base game is available now on supported platforms. Revelations is also available now, either through qualifying Premium or Collector access or as a standalone add-on.
System / Device Requirements
PC players should check the current Steam listing and Bethesda’s Update 4 known-issues section before purchase or troubleshooting. Update 4 includes current GPU and driver guidance for supported PC configurations.
Bethesda’s current PC requirements target 1080p/60 FPS Low for the minimum tier and 1440p/60 FPS High for the recommended tier. Hardware ray tracing support is mandatory even at minimum.
